"Once my mother was introduced to 4-H, she quickly realized the value!"
My family has been working with 4-H since April 13, 1965. Once my mother, Mary Boldridge, was introduced to 4-H, she quickly realized the value in educational 4-H programs for youth.
In 1972, my mother started baking a German chocolate cake that was auctioned at the Atchison County Fair, and she donated the money to the 4-H council to help with expenses and reward the members for their hard work. My mother passed in 1984, I continue to bake the German chocolate cake annually and donate the money to the 4-H scholarship fund, which awards graduating 4-H’ers. The cake usually raises over $2,000, and the most it has raised is $3,355!
