"...using the skills, experience that
4-H gave me each and every day."

Tina Craft 4-H has always been a part of my life from the time I was the little sister following my brother to 4-H events to the 12 years of being a 4-Her myself. Now I am using the skills and experiences that 4-H gave me each and everyday of my life. 4-H taught me about communication, leadership, organization, and teamwork. It taught me not only how to use these skills among my own peers but also when working with adult leaders and with younger members. 4-H is a unique organization that reaches out to a wide array of people and brings them together while teaching many life skills.

While attending K-State I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to live at Clovia, the 4-H Scholarship House. At Clovia I served as one of the House Managers for a year. In this position I was in charge of taking care of maintenance and repairs to keep the house a functional place for us to live. This proved to be yet another experience where I put to use the skills of organization, communication, teamwork, and leadership that 4-H had instilled in me.  Above all my most memorable part of Clovia was the people I met and still have as my friends today. Although all of the women’s futures were headed towards different careers we all shared the fact that 4-H had been an influence in our lives and had helped to get us where we were and take us to where we were going.

Rock Springs is a 735-acre, year-round camp, conference and retreat center nestled in the scenic Kansas Flint Hills near Junction City. Rock Springs was purchased and developed by 4-H’ers in 1946 and the Kansas 4-H Foundation was formed in 1952, at which time ownership was transferred to the Foundation. Since that time, Rock Springs has been hosting approximately 20,000 visitors annually.
